Sokoto Proposes N188b For 2022
Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State Monday presented over N188 billion as proposed appropriation to the State House of Assembly (SOHA) for 2022 fiscal year.
The governor said the amount included recurrent expenditure of over N75 billion, comprising personnel cost and other recurrent cost representing 40.3%, while the capital overhead is over N112 billion, representing 59.7%.
The governor said the budget, tagged: “Budget of Accomplishment and Sustainable Development,” would focus on the completion of projects and the execution of new ones.
Tambuwal said the sectoral allocation for the year 2022 showed that 20 per cent of the proposed total budget would go to education with over N37 billion followed by health with over N28 billion, representing 15 per cent; and, agriculture with over N22 billion representing 12 per cent and over N18 billion for infrastructure representing 10% as well as over N81 billion for others which represents 43% of the budget.
Governor Tambuwal explained that his administration has witnessed several achievements in many sectors during the implementation of the last budget and sought for continued support and cooperation.
He also said his administration will continue to give priority to education, security, trade, agriculture, health and other sectors for the development of the state, just as he thanked the legislature for their support and cooperation to his administration in achieving the desired objectives.
He also commended the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, traditional rulers and religious leaders for their unflinching support and contribution to the realization of government policies and programmes.
In his address the Speaker of SOHA, Rt. Hon. Aminu Achida, assured the governor of the lawmakers’ commitment to ensuring speedy passage of the bill to sustain the frequency of development in the state.
