Inclusion Of Women In Governance Will Deepen Democracy – Says Gov Fintiri
Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has described women as critical stakeholders who have a great role to play in governance, which informed the government's decision to bring them on board to deepen democracy.
The Governor stated this when he granted an audience to the State chapter of the Association of Local Government Vice-Chairpersons of Nigeria, who were on a thank-you visit to his office in Yola.
The Governor, who thanked the Vice Chairpersons for the honour done him by coming to reciprocate what was done to women, said their choice was a deliberate act to bring them to light to add value to what the government is doing.
Governor Fintiri disclosed that he has tasked the Deputy Governor to find roles for them to play in the Local Governments aside from deputizing the chairmen.
Government, he said is mindful of the roles they played during the election, urging them to put in more efforts for the development of the grassroots and good of the state.
He encouraged the Vice Chairpersons to utilize the opportunities at their disposal, work with all stakeholders to make a difference and sacrifice for the good of the localities and state that future generations will be proud of.
Earlier, Chairperson of the Association, Sarah Samuel, while applauding the Governor for his doggedness and unique leadership style said he has proven to be gender sensitive and unbiased against what was obtained in the past
She gave kudos to Governor Fintiri for transforming the state, reiterating that women are also nation builders who are determined to make a difference in governance if given the mandate.
Sarah Samuel pledged their commitment to cooperate and work with the chairmen to ensure the actualization of the Fintiri administration 8-point agenda.
