Despite the heavy rainfall, 2549 delegates of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi State gathered at the Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House, to elect a new leadership.

The state congress, which was attended by prominent party faithful and delegates from the 20 Local Governments, marked the end of the tenure of the outgoing executive led by Alhaji Hanza Akuyam.

The event was graced by top government officials, including the Deputy Governor, Auwal Jatau, who represented Governor Bala Mohammed, Speaker Suleiman Abubakar, Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Ibrahim Kashima, Senator Samaila Dahuwa, and other party stalwarts.

In his remarks, Chairman of the PDP Congress Electoral Committee, Ambassador Gash Umar, commended Governor Mohammed's leadership, which has transformed the state through infrastructure and human capital development.

He also acknowledged the presence of national and state assembly members, INEC officials, and stakeholders of the party.

Umar emphasized the significance of the congress, stating that power belongs to God through the people.

He reminded the delegates that the PDP is the largest political party in Africa and the mother of all other parties. He urged them to elect new state executives and affirm consensus where reached.
