By Admin

In his avowed resolve to alleviate the pains and sufferings experienced by the less privileged and vulnerable in the hinterland, Governor Udom Emmanuel has reached out to the less privileged in Eastern Obolo Local Government Area with edible food items such as rice, garri, noodles and beverages.

Using the Divine Mandate Community Service, the State Chief Executive urged the people of Eastern Obolo to help him fight against Coronavirus by adhering to the safety measures.

The community service is strategically designed to embark on a door to door gifting of food packages and other life-saving items to the less privileged residents of rural communities to ameliorate their difficulties.

The Governor’s Divine Mandate community service team was led by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Research & Documentation, Mr. Essien Ndueso, and his counterpart on Media, Rev. Richard Peters, as well as a youth leader and former Special Assistant to the Governor on Petroleum Matters, Festus Sunday.

The Divine Mandate Community service has been reaching out to the less privileged and vulnerable in the hinterland since the inception of Governor Emmanuel’s administration, all with the genuine and sincere intention of giving succor to the needy.

Addressing the people of Eastern Obolo, Mr. Ndueso and Rev. Peters stressed the stance of government on the precautionary measures against the scourge which has led to global lockdown. They maintained that the people must imbibe the principle of social distancing, washing of hands with clean and running water, with the application of hand sanitizers as well as staying at home to avoid possible contraction of the dreaded virus and should report any suspected cases to the State COVID-19 Response Team.

They assured the people of the Governor’s interest and commitment in ensuring that people of Akwa Ibom State are well cared for, particularly at this critical period of COVID-19 pandemic.

In their words: “This is obviously not enough for you, but it comes from a heart of a governor that truly loves the State and is eager to end the lockdown as soon as possible.”

Most of the beneficiaries of the Divine Mandate Community Service largesse in Eastern Obolo LGA expressed gratitude to Governor Emmanuel for his magnanimous disposition and extending same to the people of Eastern Obolo at this critical period, when the world has been held hostage by hunger occasioned by the venomous Coronavirus.

They prayed God to grant Governor Emmanuel the wisdom, grace and strength to lead Akwa Ibom State successfully, particularly through this difficult time.
