COVID-19: NCDC BOSS HAILS MAKINDE'S RAPID RESPONSE

Gov. Seyi Makinde received the Director General of the Nigeria Centre For Disease Control (NCDC), Dr. Chikwe Ihekweazu and the Country Representative of World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Fiona Braka at the Government House, Agodi, Ibadan.

The team was on a working visit to inspect and assess the Diagnostic Centre and the Oyo State Infectious Disease Center.

The Governor in his address welcomed the team led by the Director-General of NCDC and the Country Representative of WHO, while urging them to give feedbacks that can shape the efforts of the government in the fight against COVID-19 in the course of their inspection.

He further highlighted the achievements of the Oyo State COVID-19 Task Force in the containment of the virus, while seeking the support of NCDC in ensuring the certification of the laboratory at the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) so as to ramp up testing in the state.

He mentioned that the public health workers in Oyo State have been at the frontline in place of hired consultants in order to empower and give them the exposure needed to better their work.

The Director-General of NCDC while speaking at the State Infectious Disease Center, Olodo after inspecting the treatment center commended the State Government for their rapid response in putting the centre to shape within a short period.

He affirmed that the treatment centre will serve Oyo State and the entire country for many years for infectious diseases control, research, and diagnosis.
