Wike reopens Caverton Helicopters’ offices after apology

Rivers State Government has unsealed the offices of Caverton Helicopters initially closed for violating its executive order on containment of the Coronavirus pandemic.


Governor Nyesom Wike approved the reopening of the business premises on Monday following an apology by the firm, the Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Prof. Zaccheus Adangor, said.

“We have unsealed the business premises of Caverton Helicopters. The Rivers State Governor gave the approval Monday. The chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area was directed to unseal it,” he said.

“I have received a call from the company to confirm that their business premises have been unsealed."

“We unsealed the premises on the basis of the apology tendered by the company and their commitment to be of good conduct.”

Rivers Government shut Caverton’s business premises on April 9 after its pilots flew into the State despite air and land border closure forced by the pandemic.

The pilots, Samuel Ugorji and Samuel Buhari, and 10 passengers who were with them were on April 14 granted bail by a Chief Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt.

Delta awards N78bn contract for flyovers in Warri, Effurun

Delta State Government has approved the award of contracts worth N78 billion to Julius Berger Nigeria Limited for the construction of three flyover bridges and road expansion in the Warri/Effurun megalopolis. This was part of decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday in Asaba.  Briefing journalists at the end of the Exco meeting, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr Fred Edafiogho, said approval of the contracts were aimed at solving the gridlock often experienced in the twin cities.
