Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, has commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari over the death of his Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari.

This is as the immediate-past Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dakuku Adol Peterside, and a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, have described Kyari’s death as a big blow to Buhari, Nigeria and indeed, all those who knew him.

Wike, in a statement issued in Port Harcourt by the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Paulinus Nsirim, stated that the death of late Chief of Staff was a great loss not only to the President but the entire nation.

The Governor described him as a patriot, trustworthy, humble and caring leader who contributed immensely to the development of the country.

On his part, Peterside stated that his demise caused by the dreaded Coronavirus came at a time the nation was putting together all resources to tackle the pandemic.

He noted that the late Abba Kyari was a decent gentleman, who acted as a father to all and was always calm no matter the situation.

In his own statement made available to news men in Port Harcourt, Eze, said: “The death of Mallam Abba Kyari the Chief of Staff to President Buhari came to me and family as a big shock. His death no matter the position of some of his critics and associates has created a great vacuum in the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari and governance in Nigeria".

“Though, he will be replaced as soon as possible so that governance will not suffer or be slowed down but the fact remains that he has left a very big shoe for whoever will be nominated to replace him".

“No matter the stand of anybody, Abba Kyari remains the strongest and most powerful Chief of Staff ever to any President of this country with so much powers to influence most of the government’s policies and direction.”
