Adamawa State Governor, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has donated his three months salary in the fight against the spread of the Coronavirus Pandemic in the State with effect from the month of April, 2020.

The donation is to support the Adamawa COVID-19 Containment Committee to avert the outbreak of the dreaded disease.

The Governor said, “Now is the time to act and not wait until the State is hit before we start making preparations to halt its spread”.

He said that his administration is not leaving anything to chance in the fight against the pandemic, stating that the situation faced by the country requires support from everyone.

He commended the Bishop of the Upper Room Churches, Rt. Reverend Peter Makanto, for donating a one-hundred-bed capacity hospital to serve as an isolation centre.

Governor Fintiri urged well-meaning citizens to emulate the gesture and donate to the Adamawa COVID-19 Containment Committee fund to help the State, although Adamawa has no confirmed case of the virus.

He is happy with the response and unity of purpose of people of the State in the battle to flatten the curve of the pandemic in the country, re-emphasizing the need to maintain strict hygiene and social distancing.
