Gov. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Bags Award of Excellence

 National Union of Teachers bestows an Award on Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for excellence as the first Governor in the country to increase teacher’s years of service from thirty five to forty years even before the pronouncement by the federal government.

He was presented with the award by the National President of NUT Doctor Idris Nasir for giant strides in the education sector and commitment towards the welfare of Adamawa teachers.


Speaking at the event in Yola Wednesday, Governor Umaru Fintiri appreciate the award with humility declaring that he will not take it for granted, vowing to redouble  efforts at ensure that  teachers’ welfare is paramount. 

He affirmed that under his administration teachers will get their reward here on earth instead of the hereafter and that was why government extended years of service for English and Science Teachers by five years in addition to promotion of Teachers in Post Primary Schools and the increase in the allowances of core subjects Teachers. 

The Governor commended the State chapter of NUT for supporting and ensuring that the recent verification of Teachers is successfully undertaken as a prelude to the employment of more qualified Teachers in order to fill the noticeable gap in the number required in schools.


Highlight of the occassion was presentation of an Award of Excellence in Educational Revival by the National President of NUT Dr Idris to Governor Umaru Fintiri.
