Obaseki Revamps, Activates Otuo General Hospital, Deploys Medical Personnel


 

The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki has revamped and activated services at the state-owned Otuo General Hospital in Owan East Local Government Area with medical personnel for critical need deployed to commence work at the facility.

Commissioner for Health, Dr. Patrick Okundia, who spoke to journalists at the weekend in Benin City, said the solar-powered General Hospital which was formerly under lock and keys has been upgraded and is fully operational, noting that the official opening ceremony will take place soonest

 

Okundia assured that the Obaseki-led administration will continue to invest massively in the provision of quality healthcare services to the people, so that more residents will have access to quality and affordable healthcare services.

According to him, “A lot have been done by this administration to activate services at the Otuo General Hospital  and we are happy that our efforts have yielded positive fruits as the hospital is now fully functional. The facility has been revamped, personnel for critical need have been deployed and services have commenced in earnest.


“The hospital has been equipped to a standard that is above the normal standard you find in other hospitals in furtherance of the Obaseki-led administration’s vision to ensure the health and wellbeing of Edo people through massive investment in the provision of quality healthcare services.”


“Governor Obaseki is committed to making sure that our healthcare system in Edo State is restored to ensure that the state is a destination for medical tourism,” he added.


The commissioner noted that the government’s focus is on improving the state’s primary and secondary healthcare systems; enhancing healthcare financing and revamping training institutions to produce quality health workers.
