Bayelsa APC crisis: Gov. Diri cautions against violent activities

… urges security commanders to go after perpetrators

... says time not ripe for politics

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri has cautioned political parties precipitating crisis in the State, especially the major opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC).

Governor Diri gave the caution at the 35th State Security Council meeting today at Government House, Yenagoa.

The Governor remarked that he is still the Governor of the State noting that all political parties should join hands in ensuring peace, security and governance processes for the overall development of the State as it is too early for politics.

"Again, let me use this opportunity to advise politicians that there is time for everything. Some have now started in their panties of who to be Governorship Candidate."

“I am still the Governor of Bayelsa State and I will be here until February 14th, 2028. So, those of you who want to make sure that there is a crisis in your party because you want to be a gubernatorial candidate, sorry for you. It is too early.

Don't precipitate any crisis within any political party now for whatever ambition you may have. If you truly want to be Governor, then you must enjoy what we are doing by bringing peace everywhere.

So, let me call on our major opposition party in the State, please, key into the peace in the State, key into the processes of governance in the State,”Governor Diri stated.

Governor Diri also appreciated the security agencies in the State for their professionalism describing them as top-notch.
