Bayelsa Govt Supports Bereaved Families of 3 Security Operatives With N3M Each

Bayelsa State Government has sympathized with families of the deceased three security personnel involved in a boat mishap, who were part of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Formoso Anti-Crude Oil Theft team along Nembe Creek in Nembe Local Government Area of the state. 

The Chief Security Coordinator and Coordinator of the State Community Safety Corps, Brig Gen. Eric Angaye (Rtd), received  families of the deceased security operatives on behalf of the Governor, Senator Douye Diri, in his office in Government House, Yenagoa.

He said the boat mishap resulted to the death of three personnel namely, Lance Corporal Ojugbeli I, Lance Corporal Adamu D and Seaman Animpuye JA, while several others sustained injuries with severe damage to their interceptor boat.

Commenting further on the incident which occurred on the 10th of July this year, Gen. Angaye noted that they were deployed for operations within Nembe creek and expressed sadness over the loss of their lives.

According to him, their interceptor boat collided with a stationary barge belonging to Messers SETRACO that drifted and obstructed the passage way along the Nembe creek.

Gen. Angaye said: "the Bayelsa State Government is providing support to the families of the deceased personnel with the sum of 3 million Naira each."

"We sympathize with the bereaved families that have lost their breadwinners in the line of duty. The state government is supporting you with the sum of three million each."
