Obaseki commiserates with Jigawa State over tragedy from tanker explosion

 The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has commiserated with his Jigawa State counterpart, Malam Umar Namadi, over the tanker explosion in Taura Local Government Area of the State, which led to the tragic loss of over 150 persons and 100 others sustaining various degrees of injuries. 

Obaseki, in a statement, described the incident as unfortunate, praying for the repose of the souls of the departed.

According to him, “I am deeply saddened by the tragic news of the death toll from the tanker explosion in Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State which reportedly claimed the lives of over 150 persons with 100 others sustaining injuries. It is most disheartening."

“Our prayers are with the families of the deceased even as we pray for quick recovery of those injured by the accident.”

The Governor said that the loss is tragic, noting that the State needs prayers from all and sundry, especially in this time of mourning.

According to him, “On behalf of the Government and people of Edo State, I commiserate with the Governor of Jigawa State, Malam Umar Namadi; the people of Taura Local Government and the entire Jigawa State over this unfortunate incident and pray that God will grant all the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss of lives and strength through this time of grief."
