The PDP Governors’ Forum held its 2025/1ST Monthly Meeting, today, Friday, January 31, 2025 in Asaba, the capital of Delta State. And rising therefrom resolved to issue the following communique: The Forum employed the occasion to review the performance of member states in particular, and the state of the nation in general, as well as developments in the party, as at the end of 2024; and noting the monumental socio-economic, security, infrastructure and other challenges that confronted the nation during the period, the Meeting commended Governors of member states for pursuing policies and programmes that not only ameliorated the plight of the people but were aimed at creating the foundation for sustainable development in their various states. PDP Governors Meet in Asaba to Discuss Party Affairs, National Development

The Peoples' Democratic Party Governors' Forum (PDP-GF) is currently holding its first meeting of 2025 at the Conference Room, Delta State Government House, Asaba. The meeting aims to address the state of the party and key developmental issues affecting both subnational and national levels. Additionally, an enlarged session will include the participation of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Damagum, the Board of Trustees, and other stakeholders. PDP Governors Arrive in Asaba for Crucial Meeting, Set for Gala Night

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have started arriving in Asaba, Delta State capital, ahead of the PDP Governors' Forum meeting scheduled for tomorrow. The high-level gathering is expected to focus on pressing national issues, party affairs. The Director General of the PDP Governors' Forum, Dr. Emmanuel Agbo, was on hand at the Asaba International Airport to receive the arriving governors. Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, is hosting the meeting and has welcomed some of his colleagues at the Government House.  Among the early arrivals are Governors Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Umaru Fintiri (Adamawa), Dauda Lawal (Zamfara), and Agbu Kefas (Taraba), with more governors expected to arrive later in the evening. Bayelsa Cabinet Approves Purchase Of 60mw Gas Turbines

....Bayelsa, Most Climate Impacted State, Says Gov Diri, Welcomes New GOC The Bayelsa State Executive Council has approved the purchase of 60 megawatts gas turbines to boost electricity supply in the state. The state cabinet gave the approval during its 151st meeting in Government House, Yenagoa, on Wednesday. Briefing the press after the meeting, the Commissioner for Information, Orientation and Strategy, Mrs. Ebiuwou Koku-Obiyai and her Ministry of Power counterpart, Engr. Kharin Komuko, said the project would ensure constant power supply and prevent a repeat of the recent long period of power outage the state was plunged into by vandals. According to the Power Commissioner, arrangement for purchase of the gas turbine was over 70 per cent concluded and that the installation would be completed before end of this year. The Peoples Democratic Party Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF) will hold its first meeting of the year today, Thursday, January 30, 2025 (Gala Night), with the main session scheduled for Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Government House, Asaba, Delta State, aptly known as the Big Heart of the Nation. The meeting will focus on reviewing the state of the nation, assessing the party’s position, and evaluating governance in PDP-controlled states. Key national issues such as the deteriorating economy, threats to democratic governance, and the alarming state of insecurity across all geopolitical zones will be rigorously examined. Seyi Makinde, over the demise of his Elder Brother, Engr. Sunday Makinde. Gov Diri To PANDEF: Focus On Region’s Development Issues

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has urged leadership of the Pan Niger Delta Forum  (PANDEF) to focus on issues that border on the region’s development in its advocacy as a voice of the region. Senator Diri gave the admonition on Wednesday when a delegation of PANDEF led by its new chairman, Amb. Godknows Igali, paid him a courtesy visit in Government House, Yenagoa.  He expressed his administration's commitment to collaborate with the forum to address issues of development bedevilling the Niger Delta region. The Bayelsa governor stressed that PANDEF needed the collaboration of governors of the region as well as interventionist agencies such as the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the proposed South South Development Commission in order for it to succeed.
