Governor Ahmadu Fintiri marks 2025 Armed Forces Remembrance Day

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has led dignitaries in the state to laying of wreaths in honor of the nation’s fallen heroes as part of the grand finale marking the 2025  Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The event which held at Mahmud Ribadu Square in Yola, Wednesday, was attended by personalities, serving and retired soldiers, as well as widows of the personnel who paid the supreme price.

Others that laid the wreaths included the Speaker, State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Bathiya Wesley, State Chief Judge, Justice Hafsat Abdurrahman, Lamido Adamawa Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustapha, service commanders and others. 

Governor Umaru Fintiri had on arrival at the venue of the event inspected a guard of honor mounted by personnel of the Nigeria Armed Forces in commemoration of the day celebrated across the country.

In an interview with newsmen shortly after the event, Governor Fintiri urged Nigerians to continue to pray and support the country and widows of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the nation.

Governor Fintiri commended the officers and men of the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in protecting the country’s territorial integrity. 

While decrying the security challenges facing the country, Governor Fintiri called for collective efforts to address them and reiterated that peace and unity are essential for development. 

Highlights of the event were offering of special prayers, observing a minute silence and firing a three gun salute in honor of the fallen heroes as well as releasing of pigeons by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to signify peace.

Armed Forces Remembrance Day is celebrated on the fifteenth of January annually to honor gallant members of the Nigeria Armed Forces who died in the line of duty and those who are still serving at various peace operations nationally and internationally.
