Bauchi govt reiterates commitment to modernize Sumu wildlife park

Bauchi state government has reaffirmed its commitment towards modernizing Sumu Wildlife Conservation Park in an effort to ensure the park offers first class services to visitors.


The State Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Honorable Modibbo Ahmed, disclosed this in a statement issued to journalists in Bauchi.


Honorable Modibbo Ahmed said the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir is making all efforts to ensure the park is opened to the public and offers efficient services to tourists and investors both local and foreign.


He said currently, the state government has embarked on renovation of Rangers quarters, provision of solar lighting at some key points of the park, equipping rangers with walky talkies, new sets of uniform, boots and weapons in the first instance for enhanced security of the park.


He recalled that Sumu Wildlife Conservation Park was launched in 2006 with the importation of animals from Namibia but the infrastructure is yet to be completed.


The Sumu Wildlife Conservation Park is at Kafin Madaki in Bauchi State with an 8 square kilometer reserve that houses some varieties of herbivorous wild animals majority of which is the Namibian species of Giraffes, Zebras, antelopes, Blue wild beasts, and Elan.
