Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State has urged the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter, Bishop Stephen Dami Mamza, to be strong and courageous even as he tests positive to COVID-19 virus.
Governor Fintiri described “Bishop Mamza as a man of faith that has never given up on the power of the Almighty God to do the impossible. I believe he would come out stronger from this trial”.
He commended the cleric's strong will in taking to Twitter to announce his status on Sunday, describing it as heart warming and a testament of strong faith in God and concern for humanity.
He described as enormous the contributions of Bishop Dami to the fight against the Coronavirus pandemic in the state as a member of the Containment Committee through creating awareness on the reality of the disease and working extra hard with other members to stop its spread.
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said “Our thoughts are with Bishop Dami Mamza at this trying period. I am optimistic that he will be fine because testing positive is not a death sentence”.
The governor therefore assured the Catholic Bishop that his contributions towards stemming the tide of the pandemic is appreciated. He said: “The government and people of the state owe you our support and prayers”.
Governor Fintiri advised the public not to let their guards down, but to ensure they keep faith with the protocols of self distancing, washing of hands, wearing of face masks and others as directed by the NCDC, warning that the pandemic is real.
