Gov Fintiri Lays Foundation For Construction Of New Cottage Hospital In Lamurde
Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri Tuesday laid the foundation for the construction of a new 60-bed capacity cottage hospital in Lamurde Local Government Area as part of his unrelenting resolve to revive the health sector in the state.
The governor while speaking during the event in Lamurde said the project is the beginning of the provision of numerous democracy dividends to the people of the area by his administration.
Governor Umaru Fintiri said having taken stock of secondary healthcare facility in the area and in fulfilment of his administration's Health Sector Reform Agenda, he decided to build a befitting cottage hospital for the community.
This according to the governor is part of his unrelenting commitment to revive the health sector as a key strategy to the realization of the health related Millennium Development Goals.
He described the project as one of the major steps in the promise he made to spare no effort to restore the lost glory of Adamawa State adding that his administration is ever more determined to change the unacceptable health indices met on ground.
Governor Umaru Fintiri added that his zeal towards reforming secondary healthcare was why his administration has earmarked a huge amount to rehabilitate all the general hospitals and construct new ones where they are lacking.
While charging the contractor to execute the project according to specification and utmost regard to timelines, the governor also urged traditional and community leaders to work hard to ensure that the people cooperate with the contractor to deliver on these projects.
In his remark, the Commissioner of Health and Human Services, Professor Abdullahi Isa, noted that Guyuk Local Government created for the past twenty four years has existed without a cottage hospital until now.
Professor Isa said it is part of the determination of the governor to extend secondary health care service around the state urging the community to accord the contractor maximum cooperation.
Speaking on behalf of the contracting firm Relia Build Construction Company, Engineer Godwin Bishong, expressed appreciation to the government for awarding the contract to the firm assuring of quality and timely completion of the project.
In their separate contributions, the Chairman of Lamurde Local Government Council, Mr. Burto Williams and the Chairman of Lamurde Elders Forum, Albert Dabara, applaud the governor for keeping to his campaign promises stressing that the area considers itself as the greatest beneficiary of the Fintiri-led administration.
