Gov. Udom Emmanuel Set to Commission 10.9km Awa -Nkana Road

In continuation of activities to mark the occasion of his sixth year in office, Governor Udom Emmanuel will this Wednesday, lead top government functionaries and other stakeholders to the inauguration of a very significant road project that links the hinterland communities of Southern Iman in Etinan local government area with Awa in Onna local government area.

The road is the 10.9km Awa - Nkana Road with 2.3km Spurs in Onna.


A release by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Emmanuel Ekuwem indicates that the road inauguration will be preceded by the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sterling Petro-Chemicals and Fertilizer Production Factory in Eastern Obolo.


Governor Emmanuel is also expected to lay  the foundation for the Akwa Ibom State University Teaching Hospital at the General Hospital Awa, in Onna Local Government Area.  The Teaching Hospital is part of a partnership agreement with the BUA Group.



Yesterday, four roads measuring 5.1 kilometers and a 2kilometer drainage and erosion control project were unveiled by the Governor in Oron Local Government Area.

Delta awards N78bn contract for flyovers in Warri, Effurun

Delta State Government has approved the award of contracts worth N78 billion to Julius Berger Nigeria Limited for the construction of three flyover bridges and road expansion in the Warri/Effurun megalopolis. This was part of decisions reached at the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori on Tuesday in Asaba.  Briefing journalists at the end of the Exco meeting, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works, Engr Fred Edafiogho, said approval of the contracts were aimed at solving the gridlock often experienced in the twin cities.
