Bayelsa Celebrates Prof. Dimie Ogoina As Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People

The Government and people of Bayelsa State are celebrating Prof. Dimie Ogoina on his recognition as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. 

The celebration of Prof. Ogoina, Chief Medical Director, Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital for his research feat on Monkey Pox was held at the DSP Alamieyeseigha Banquet Hall, Yenagoa.

On the occasion, the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Douye Diri, poured encomiums on the erudite professor for making Bayelsa proud.

"We are here today to celebrate an achiever. We are also here as a state to proudly celebrate one of our own. It is with great pride and joy to honour this iconic academia, the erudite Prof. Dimie Ogoina as one of Time Magazine's 100 Most Influential People. His recognition is not just a personal achievement to him but a testament of the resilience and brilliance of the people of our great state. It is a reflection of the dedication, hard work and determination that has driven our educational institutions.

We recognize the impact the work of Prof. Dimie Ogoina has had in our state, country and world. His remarkable contributions to the field of education and research has elevated the status of Bayelsa State in the academic world.

I call on Bayelsa youths to see the likes of Prof. Ogoina as their mentor and not those who buy them guns and give them drugs."

Dignitaries who graced the occasion included; Wife of the Governor, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri, Deputy Governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, Secretary to the State Government, Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei, Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Peter Akpe, the Chairman of Council of Traditional Rulers, King Bubaraye Dakolo, Commissioners, other top government functionaries, Ogoina's colleagues from the academia and family members.
