The Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party has successfully elected a new 39-member State Executive Committee with a former Commissioner for Housing in the state, Dr. Martin Chukwunweike as the new Chairman. The winners were announced by the six-man PDP Enugu State Congress Electoral Committee led by Toni Iyoha. Others elected during the peaceful state congress in the state capital, which also had Governor Peter Mbah as one of the delegates, were Barr. Smart Schools: Gov Mbah Flags-off Experiential Learning Centre

In another first, governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has flagged-off the construction of a Centre for Experiential Learning and Innovation as part of its sustainability plans for the Smart Green School system. The Centre, which is situated at the Enugu State College of Education (Technical), Enugu and comprises 25 model classrooms, ICT hub, and e-library, among other hi-tech sections and equipment will serve as training and retraining hub to groom teachers in digital innovation, mechatronics, artificial intelligence, robotics, and such related areas to be able to function optimally in delivering knowledge in the state’s 260 smart schools. Flagging off the construction at the weekend, the governor who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ndubueze Mbah, said it was part of the priority of his administration to build smart human capital, upscale the workforce, produce children who would serve as the fourth industrial revolution, and achieve zero per cent poverty

Gov Mbah Commissions State-Owned Mega Asphalt Plant in Enugu

Infurtherance of his campaign promise to construct 10,000 roads in eight years, governor of Enugu State, Dr. Peter Mbah, has commissioned a mega asphalt production plant built by his administration. Inaugurating the plant in Enugu on Thursday, Governor Mbah also explained that the state would in addition produce the inputs for asphalt production, noting these moves would drastically reduce the cost of road construction for the state. “This is an event that brings us closer to our dream of bidding our collapsed, unpaved roads goodbye. This special and state-of-the-art asphalt production plant is designed to produce 160 tons of asphalt per hour. For context, it will produce 2.5 tons every minute and 160 tons per hour. What it effectively means is that if we decide to work 20 hours in a day, we can produce 3,200 tons every day. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) charges the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to firmly resist the plot by the All Progressives Congress (APC) to smuggle in unaccredited Polling and Collation Agents after the APC failed to meet the deadline stipulated by the Electoral Act, 2022 and INEC Guidelines for the September 21, 2024 Governorship election in Edo State. Governor Peter Mbah has inaugurated the Committee for the implementation of the New National Minimum Wage for Civil and Public Servants in Enugu State, giving the Committee a maximum of one month to submit its report. The Committee which was inaugurated  on Thursday at the Government House, Enugu, had the Head of Service, Kenneth Ugwu, as Chairman; representative of the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Sandra George as Secretary and the Commissioner of Finance and Economic Development, Dr. Nathaniel Uramah. Others are the Commissioner for Labour and Employment, Pharm Chika Ugwuoke; and Accountant-General of the state, Mr. Anthony Okenwa as members. The Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the new national minimum wage, stating that preparations are well underway. The Governor made this disclosure on Friday at the Government House in Jalingo, shortly after signing the 2024 supplementary budget into law. Governor Kefas emphasized that the implementation of the new minimum wage is not an issue for debate. "It's not an issue. I have said that once the Federal Government approves it, I will implement it. Our workers deserve the best," he said. He further mentioned that the Office of the Head of Service, along with a dedicated committee, is actively working on the wage table to facilitate smooth implementation in the state.
