Bauchi Govt Promises Support on Implementation of Presidential Grants & Loans Scheme for MSMEs

The Bauchi State Ministry for Cooperatives, Small and Medium Enterprises Development has promised to support the Federal Government in the implementation of its Presidential Grants & Loans Scheme for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the State.

Speaking at a 1 day stakeholder- engagement on the implementation of the program for beneficiaries in Bauchi held at Sulgad Hotel Bauchi, the Commissioner in charge of the Ministry, Sadiq Hamisu Shira emphasized that the State Government through the Ministry is committed to ensuring that the program is implemented effectively by reaching the targeted beneficiaries.



The Commissioner noted that empowering 

Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) would pave the way for a brighter, more prosperous future for all, hence the unwavering commitment of the state to providing an enabling environment that promotes the smooth and effective implementation of the initiative.


According to him, the State Government recognizes that MSMEs are the backbone of the economy as they create jobs, drive innovation, and contribute to the overall growth of the state, and reiterated the relentless efforts of the state towards fostering economic development through empowering entrepreneurs.


Sadiq Shira used the medium to enumerate some of the achievements of the administration of Governor Bala Mohammed which include creating an ecosystem where MSMEs can flourish through improving infrastructure, providing training and capacity-building programs, and fostering partnerships between the public and private sectors. 


He said other achievements are the disbursement of 75 million in each of the 20 local government areas as Kaura Empowerment, disbursement of 200 million naira micro grant to petty traders, disbursement of 500 million naira as soft loan to traders and artisans and the revival of entrepreneurial Skills and acquisition centers in the state.


The Commissioner said the rest are the establishment of CNG/LPG plant in Bauchi as part of resolve and determination in supporting MSMEs to enable SMEs to operate more efficiently and competitively and the establishment Of SME one stop shop among others.

"I want to express our sincere appreciation to the Bank of Industry, SMEDAN and other federal government agencies working for the development of SMEs. Together, we can build a sustainable framework that not only addresses the immediate needs of our businesses but also lays the foundation for long-term growth,"

In their separate remarks, the representatives of the Bank of Industry and SMEDAN, assured to support and assist MSMEs in Bauchi state to benefit maximally from the project.
