Governor Agbu Kefas Of Taraba State Proposes Over N429.8 Billion Naira Budget For The 2025 Fiscal Year.

Governor Dr Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has proposed a budget estimate of N429.8 billion naira for the 2025 fiscal year, placing a significant emphasis on education, job creation, infrastructure development, and agriculture.

The Governor presented this appropriation bill to the State Assembly on Monday, November 25, 2024.

In his address to the members of the Taraba State House of Assembly at the Assembly complex in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas articulated a vision for a more prosperous, inclusive, and sustainable Taraba State.

 He described the budget as a "Budget of Transformation," aimed at repositioning the state to align with the "Moving Forward" agenda of his administration.

For the 2025 budget, N266.12 billion naira, or 61.5% of the total budget, is allocated for capital expenditures, while N163.78 billion naira, accounting for 38.1%, is designated for recurrent expenditures.

Governor Kefas elaborated on the components of the budget, noting that the recurrent expenditures cover personnel and overhead costs, whereas capital expenditures involve the funding of infrastructure projects and other developmental initiatives.

He stressed that the budget is strategically designed to foster investment, drive economic growth, and enhance the quality of life for the citizens of Taraba State. 

The 2025 estimate builds on the achievements of the 2024 budget, prioritizing education, job creation, infrastructure, agriculture, security, and tourism.

Moreover, he highlighted that the Taraba Master Development Plan will serve as the key guiding framework for the state in 2025.

In his welcoming remarks, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. John Kizito Bonzena praised Governor Kefas' leadership for overseeing the construction, remodelling, and reconstruction of various projects both within and outside the state. 

He assured that the 10th Assembly would prioritize the bill to ensure its timely passage.

The budget presentation was attended by notable dignitaries, including Deputy Governor Alhaji Aminu Abdullahi Alkali, Chief of Staff, Dr. Jeji Williams, commissioners, heads of security agencies, and senior government officials.
