Taraba Development Master Plan: Gov Agbu Kefas Convenes an Engagement Meeting of Critical Stakeholders With CCECC in Abuja, Signs MOU

The Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas alongside other Stakeholders from the state including the Deputy Governor of the State, Members of the National Assembly from the state, the Minister of State for Regional Development, high-ranking traditional rulers and some members of the State Executive Council met with the Delegation from the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation at the conference room of the TY Danjuma House Asokoro Abuja.

The meeting is part of the efforts of the Governor to implement the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 and secure key partnerships that will drive the transformation of the state.

Speaking at the Meeting, Dr Agbu Kefas expressed excitement about the prospect of the collaboration of the state with the CCECC, adding that it will unlock the immense potential of the state.

While extolling the huge natural potentials of the state, the Governor said the move his administration is making will have profound impacts on the generations of the state.

He explained that the stakeholder's engagement will forge a new path that will propel the state towards the achievement of its development goals.

Dr Agbu Kefas noted that the ongoing rehabilitation and reconstruction of the Danbaba Suntai airport in Jalingo, which is the gateway to the state, is a demonstration of the commitment of his administration towards the transformation of the state and to open it up to various opportunities.

The Governor added that the discussion at the meeting will focus on three critical areas such as energy development, infrastructural development and economic and food security, among others, which are essential to the growth of the State.

He expressed hope that in no distant time, the state is going to take the lead in energy distribution, adding that a new hydropower project with CCECC will be launched to distribute the energy to the state and other parts of the country.

The Governor said by working with CCECC, the state can expand its road networks, improve the transportation system, manage its natural resources and drive the state economy in the interest of all.

To ensure food security and sustainability, the Governor said mechanized farming and better storage and processing facilities will be pursued.

The President of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, CCECC, Mr Chan Sichang, who was represented by the Chief Executive Director of the Company, Mr Zhou Dongping, said their partnership with the Taraba state Government is a remarkable step in the development of the State.

He said they understood the importance of infrastructures to the progress and prosperity of the State and expressed readiness to serve the state even as he said that CCECC has, over the years, become a major service provider in the country.

Briefing the meeting on the State of the development of the Taraba State Master Plan, Engr Alex Oniegbu said the Taraba Development Master Plan 2024 did not only concentrate on Jalingo, the state capital but made provisions for the development of senatorial zones and all the local government areas of the State.

He said their firm undertook the Abuja Phase Two Master Plan and expressed hope that the state will soon be a force to reckon with as far as development is concerned.

The meeting later went into a closed door.

At the end of the meeting, a Memorandum of Understanding, MoU between the Taraba State Government and the CCECC was signed.
