The Adamawa State Government has said it will shut down private and public schools as a proactive measure against coronavirus in the State.

Prof Isa Abdullah, the Commissioner for Health and Human Services, made this known, Thursday, while dispelling the rumor of the virus in the State.

Abdullah said that the panic in the State was traced to two private school pupils who developed mild fever and was later tested negative.

He said that government had recently procured over 1,000 personnel protecting equipment as proactive measure against the epidemic.

“Two siblings of the same parent got sick and everybody got panicked in a private school".

“They were tested negative and the school is operating now”, he said.

The Commissioner who refused to disclose the name of the school for fear of being stigmatized, urged people to embrace personal hygiene.

“Health personnel have already been stationed with infrared thermometer at Yola International Airport and public spaces to check visitor in to the State".

“Those caught with high temperature would be isolated for further investigation by specialists".

“The isolation centre at the specialist hospital was fully equipped with monitors to provide needed support in case of recorded case”, he added.
