Gov. Emmanuel's Administration Has Shown More Tolerance And Respect For Press Freedom

The Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong has stated that the administration of Governor Udom Emmanuel has shown general tolerance and more respect for press freedom across media firms in the state .

The Commissioner stated this yesterday, Friday, while delivering his Keynote Address during the official Dedication and Commissioning of a new radio station, Redemption 101.5 FM located in Abak Local Government Area.

The Commissioner explained that radio remains one of the most effective means of mass communication between government and the citizens, thus the establishment of another radio station in the state was a welcomed development.

According to the state spokesman, '' The fact that a lot of media firms are springing up in the state is a clear testimony to the press freedom that is existing under the Udom Emmanuel's administration, and that is a direct colouration of the tolerance of a good leader '' .

'' If pressmen were to be hunted like it is happening in other places, and their media houses destroyed, I'm not sure that another person would like to build his own here knowing that it would also be destroyed. I think the Governor deserves some accolades for his tolerance and favorable disposition to press freedom that we are all witnessing in the state '' . He added .

According to Comrade Ememobong, '' The establishment of this radio station is also an indication that our airspace is very fertile, because if eight radio stations are already here and none of them has folded up, it shows that our media space is working '' .

'' Again, this event shows that our industrialization policies are working because those who use the media space the most are those in the business world, and also those who have products to market, thus, creating a local economy that can sustain growth and development '' . 

The Information Boss further expressed optimism that the entrance of the new radio station would mark the beginning of a new era in the state's broadcast industry.

While commending Governor Emmanuel for the friendly business  environment his administration has provided, Comrade Ememobong also charged the management and staff of Redemption Fm to live up to it's name by serving as a reliable platform for authentic information sharing, learning, and also for the preservation of indigenous languages.

'' With the media culture facing serious deterioration, I believe that Redemption FM has indeed come to redeem what is almost lost, and to also promote the values that we share as a people, as well as promote the proper and correct use of English Language '' .  He added .

The info helmsman used the occasion to reiterate the continuous support of the Udom Emmanuel's administration to the media community in the state, and similarly pledged his Ministry's patronage to the radio station and other credible media organizations in the state, especially in the areas of dissemination of government policies, information management and programmes .
