Sports Festival: Bayelsa on the verge to set new appearance record

 Great things happen in this land of glory.


Sports indeed is an investment and the current Prosperity Government led by Senator Douye Diri, Governor of the state appreciates this much.

The best record Bayelsa State has posted at the National Sports Festival since creation in 1996 was during the Gateway 2006 festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State when Gov. Diri, was commissioner in charge of Youths and Sports.


The last edition in Abuja, Bayelsa secured 5th position.


But at the ongoing Sports Festival in Benin City, Bayelsa is making a strong statement as the state is firmly among the best 3 states on the medals table.

Team Bayelsa dominated swimming and wrestling.


In Boxing and other combat sports, the team did very well.


In athletics, Team Bayelsa was on the medals podium several times so also in other sports.

The Team has continued to show appreciation to Governor Douye Diri and the Deputy Governor, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for the motivation and financial support.


They confirmed the preparation for Edo 2020 has been remarkable.


Team Bayelsa is one of the States that will feature in athletics relay finals on the closing today. Brilliant indeed.





Better days ahead for sports in Bayelsa State under the Prosperity Government.

Governor Mutfwang Receives Nigerian First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu's Generous Donation Of 500 Million Naira To Plateau Crisis Victims

Nigeria's First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has donated N500 million to families affected by violent attacks in Plateau States.  The N500 million will be disbursed under the Renewed Hope Initiative and Social Investment Programme, with One Million Naira allocated to each of the 500 affected families.
