Online Essay: Bayelsa Govt. Awards Intellectual Capacity Of Undergraduates.

In a bid to encourage youthful participation in the education subsector of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri, through the office of the Director New Media, has awarded winners of the state online essay writing competition. 



Represented by the Director New Media, Mr. Kola Oredipe, Senator Diri, said his government’s passion for education gave birth to the competition for indigenous undergraduates to make informed contributions to the government. 


Governor Diri, noted that the quarterly competition which has reached its 4th edition, would be given the necessary support to achieve its set objectives.

While describing education as the bedrock to any developed society, the governor stressed that his government will continue to prioritize the education of its younger generation towards building them a prosperous future. 


He congratulated those who made the top five and urged them to pursue their academic dreams to the pinnacle. 

Also speaking, one of the judges Dr. Sophia Obi, of the State Ministry of Information, said they received ninety entries from Bayelsa undergraduates for the competition that lasted twenty-four hours online via the Bayelsa Government New Media facebook page. 

Dr. Obi who described the 4th edition as very competitive compared to previous ones, said the participants wrote on the topic “Building a Prosperous Bayelsa through Education.” 


Fielding questions from Journalists, winner of the competition, Deborah Daubri Daifa, of Federal University Otueke, thanked the state government for creating the platform to promote education and for youths to contribute their quota to the development of Bayelsa State.

Deborah, also commended the idea which she noted has brought them closer to the Prosperity Administration and promised to be a proud ambassador of competition.


Other winners who received their certificate of participation and cash gifts includes, Miss Celestina Maxwell, Miss. Florence Bekeowei, Mr. Michael Ikumoinein and Mr. Williams Enizibe
