Bauchi Deputy Governor's Committee On Payment of Salaries and Pensions Submit Report

....As Gov Bala pledged implementation of the report.

The High Powered Committee set up by Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi state to bring a lasting solution to challenges of payment of salaries and pensions in the state on Thursday evening submitted its report.

The State's Deputy Governor, Senator Baba Tela who is the Chairman of the Committee, said the committee made a savings of 511,270,138.49 naira after clearing 2,725 for state and 2,704 for local Governments salaries with 905 in the state pension and 807 in  Local Government pensions as ilegal workers and pensioners respectively.


The Deputy Governor said 865 employees from both state, local government salaries and state and local government pensions have been removed from the payroll amounting to 763,792,664.00.


He said on the commencement of the committee's assignment,  it uploaded 29,752 state's workers and 50,484 Local Government in the employees enrollment portal.

"Your Excellency, for sustainability of maintaining a credible nominal roll and clean payroll, the Committee recommended for the continuation of the qualitative analysis of nominal roll data uploaded by the consultant, upgrade of supportive ICT infrastructure, severe disciplinary action against all violators of the new salary reforms among others."


"It is our hope that Government will find the Report useful and we may also pledge to continue serving the state assiduously in any capacity."


Receiving the report, Governor Bala Mohammed expressed optimism that the committee's recommendations would bring to an end all problems associated with the payment of salaries and pensions in the state.

The governor who assured of implementing the recommendation of the committee, commended members for justifying the confidence reposed in them


"The appointment and subsequent inauguration of the committee was as a result of the disturbing irregularities and malfeasance associated with the payment of salaries in the State Public Service which we administration inherited from the previous Government."


"And the appointment of Deputy Governor as Chairman of the Committee with Secretary to the State Government and other top functionaries of the Government underscored the irrevocable commitment of our Government to sanitize the payment of salaries and pensions in the State public service."


Governor Bala Mohammed said as responsible government, his administration will not fold its arms and watch undesirable elements go unpublished by identifying people involved in irregularities in the payment of salaries with a view to bring them to book.


"Reliable reports from various sources have revealed to the involvement of some unscrupulous elements who have either organized or actively participated in the shady administration of salaries and pensions in the state."
