EID-EL-KABIR: Statewide Address By His Excellency, The Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal

STATEWIDE ADDRESS BY HIS EXCELLENCY, THE GOVERNOR OF SOKOTO STATE, RT HON Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR, MUTAWALLEN SOKOTO ON EID-EL-KABIR DAY, JULY 20, 2021

My dear people in Sokoto State, it is with gratitude to Allah (SWT) that I address you on this sacred day.  All praise is due to the Almighty, for sparing our lives to witness another Eid-el-Kabir.

2. In this season that symbolizes sacrifice, I enjoin us all, to uphold that spirit in our dealings with one another and the society at large. For, Allah requires not our offerrings for Himself. They are rather, a practice in compassion and charity towards fellow citizens.

3. Let us, in this period of rest and leisure, engage ourselves in the reflection of the Devine favors we enjoy and be grateful to the Almighty. We should also contemplate our situation and consider what our own role is in bringing about, the condition of our state and nation, with a view to rededicating ourselves or adjusting our conduct.

4. Acts of banditry and kidnapping by recalcitrant and Godless elements have killed, sacked and pillaged our communities and disrupted our socio-economic stability. Hostage takers have inhibited our highways, threatening agricultural activities and the flow of our business and economy.

5. The Covid 19 pandemic is still with us, even though it has generally subsided in most parts of the country, by the will of Allah (SWT). We are indeed grateful that in the last couple of months, we have recorded zero case in Sokoto State. I appeal to all of us to continue to observe all the protocols as enunciated by world, national and state authorities for us to continue to curtail the spread of the disease.

6. I wish to express appreciation to the our State Committee on the Covid 19 Pandemic, the NCDC, medical workers and all stakeholders for the health situation in our state.

7. In response to current state of insecurity, we have not relented in our efforts to tackle the situation, through sustained support to security agencies. And even though alarming attacks still persist in our communities, our collaboration has recorded successes in capturing and containing bandits and kidnappers in our state.

8. I wish to appreciate the cooperation of the traditional institution and supplications of the Ulama, under the guidance of His Eminence, the Sultan of Sokoto. The value and efficacy of prayers cannot be overemphasized, especially in this period of an important act of worship.

9. As we celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, I enjoin us all, to imbibe the spirit of brotherhood and all the virtues that are symbolized by this holy season. It is a time to cleanse our hearts and the intentions of our acts, for the sole purpose of securing the reward from the Almighty and the benefit of society.

10. I congratulate the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians on this day of sacrifice and pray Allah to accept our acts of worship and grant us the blessings of the holy season.

BARKA DA SALLAH!

Wassalamu alaikum warahamatullah.
