Plateau Governor Distributes Cheques Worth N278.6 Million to Project-Affected Persons

Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang has initiated the distribution of cheques totaling N278,649,455.60 to Project-Affected Persons (PAPs) as part of efforts to rebuild Plateau State and propel it towards sustained growth and economic prosperity. The projects affected include those of the Plateau Club and the Bingham University Gully Erosion site.

During a ceremony at Crispan Suites and Event Centre in Jos, Governor Mutfwang presented cheques to 179 identified beneficiaries, urging them to invest the funds wisely. Emphasizing the importance of responsible land management to human existence, he cautioned against activities that could exacerbate erosion and harm the environment.
Governor Mutfwang called upon citizens to support government initiatives aimed at rapid development. The Governor lamented the mismanagement of funds for inherited projects and pledged his administration's commitment to transparency and accountability.

He reiterated his determination to transform Jos into a model city, and called for cooperation from citizens in the urban planning efforts.
The Commissioner of Environment, Climate Change, and Mineral Development, Hon. Peter Lamba Gwom, who outlined the various properties eligible for compensation, said they include structures, lands, economic trees, businesses, and residences.

Hon. Samson Ishaku Bugama, Commissioner for Agriculture, Transition Committee Chairman of Jos North Local Government Area, Samuel Umaru, and the Project Coordinator of the Plateau State Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-landscape project expressed gratitude for the opportunity to contribute to the project's success.
