David Mark Flags Off Construction Of N7.5b Bauchi Rural Roads

Senator David Mark, former Senate President, has flagged off the construction of N7.5b rural roads in Bauchi State.

Flagging off the project in Warji Local Government of the state on Tuesday, David Mark said the projects show that  Governor Bala is bent to replicate the same legacy he left when he served as FCT Minister.

He recalled that during his time as President of the Senate, Governor Bala always voiced constructive and nationalist contributions in the Senate, saying: "I am not surprised that he had achieved so much feats within a limited time in his first year in office."

“I did not hesitate to accept the invitation for the flag-off of road construction projects in Bauchi State, because I know who was inviting me."

"As most of you will understand, you have only one boss, but when I was the President of the Senate, the senators were my bosses because if you don’t allow them to be your bosses, they will remove you in no time."

"They did not remove me for eight years because they were my bosses,” he said.

In  his address, Governor Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir said that roads are pivotal to development because accessibility is key to effective governance, the more reason his administration has embarked on massive construction of roads across the state.

The governor emphasised that the priority of his PDP-led administration is change the perspective of governance in the state in order to make it rank among its contemporaries in the country.

He explained that  the three roads will cost government a total sum of N7.3b and will be completed within 24 dry months expressing confidence that the contractor, Habibu Nigeria Engineering, will deliver as agreed.

Commissioner for Works and Transport, Abdulkadir Ibrahim, said that roads are a measure of the development of any area, stressing that without good access roads a state cannot be regarded as developed.

The Commissioner who disclosed that so far since coming on board, the Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir-led PDP administration has completed 10 roads across the state while 19 others are at various stages of construction with the aim of opening up the rural areas for grassroot development.
